Save the Date!
We're excited and couldn't wait to share the news! The application for the Mass IDEAS planning grant opportunity will be available the week of Monday, September 17, 2018. Sign up for our mailing list and we'll let you know when the application is live.
Purpose of the Grant Opportunity
Mass IDEAS is dedicated to helping communities across Massachusetts create the great public schools our students deserve. Design principles guide our support for teams as they design/redesign schools.
Planning grants, combined with direct support from Mass IDEAS, provide teams who are ready to create new schools or redesign whole schools with the knowledge, skills, dedicated time, financial resources, and support to do so effectively. The grants and direct supports work in tandem to ensure effective school model planning.
Who Can Apply
Mass IDEAS invites teams from across Massachusetts to apply. All Massachusetts public school types and all K-12 grade spans are welcome to apply. Local teams can also choose to collaborate with organizations with deep experience and demonstrable success in high-quality, innovative learning models nationally. Organizations working outside of the Commonwealth will need to partner with in-state groups or communities in order to secure a grant. Specific details regarding eligibility will be available with the application materials.
Up to six school design teams will receive planning grants up to $150,000.
Mass IDEAS will provide professional learning and coaching for design teams that receive grants through a professional learning community (PLC) and individualized supports.
Individualized supports recognize that the most effective approaches are differentiated to each team's model and local community.
In-person and online or virtual learning opportunities build trusted relationships within the PLC and develop relevant content knowledge and skills across teams. In addition to expert support from Mass IDEAS, Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC), and others, design teams will be invited to contribute their unique and local expertise by co-designing and hosting various sessions for the PLC with support from Mass IDEAS.
